This January recruitment period is always a period of feverish rumour and potential big-money transfers. Several prominent stars find themselves connected to transfers out of their current clubs. Here is a look at a selection of the key names who might be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the player in contention, reports suggest an important move is close. This 25-year-old has a deal featuring a substantial buy-out clause active for a two-week period at the start of the month. Latest developments suggest the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his services. Former interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a summer transfer to Liverpool falling through. With his contract due to run out in the summer, January is the London club's last opportunity to secure a fee for their skipper. A host of elite sides, including City and multiple European giants including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. Yet, a winter exit is considered unlikely, particularly given the coach's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

The Welsh forward has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Spurs this term. Despite finishing as the side's top scorer the previous campaign, he has begun only a small number of league matches. It is understood the North London club would be open to a transfer for the right valuation, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth appear to be at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

Tottenham rate the Welsh international at approximately £40m.

R. Neves

This Portugal playmaker might be set for a comeback to the Premier League following a period in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, while his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he is a possible bargain. Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the player. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spain that he is willing to take a pay cut for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German shot-stopper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona following the manager Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had an operation, a January departure seems increasingly probable. Villa were once mentioned as a possible suitor, but that option now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This prolific England centre-forward has kept scoring frequently in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might boost his dwindling hopes of being in the England squad. However, arranging a deal poses major hurdles. Al-Ahli are reluctant to sell him, and his alleged enormous weekly wages make any move difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all linked as interested parties.

Conor Gallagher

The energetic midfielder drew widespread interest in the off-season but remained at Atlético Madrid. H. Elliott

Despite starring and being named the best player award at the U21 Euros in the summer, this young player has struggled for minutes during his loan spell at Aston Villa. Unai Emery has stated the temporary transfer will not be made permanent. Because of specific rules about representing two clubs in a season, a move back to his parent club prior to next summer seems to be the sole available solution.

Kenan Yildiz

This exciting Turkish forward is in excellent form for Juventus this season. As his existing contract running down, a host of English clubs – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are monitoring the situation. Juventus are eager to tie down the youngster to a lengthy agreement but are in a battle to keep one of Europe's brightest young talents.

Kees Smit

This much-admired Netherlands midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. The teenager is widely tipped to make a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
